Application areas
The Leeb Probe Type D+15 is perfect for testing in grooves or recessed surfaces where precise hardness measurement is required. With an impact energy of 11 Nmm and a slightly heavier impact body, this probe is well-suited for applications where access to narrow or deep areas is necessary.
Versatile and precise
The probe’s tungsten carbide tip, with a diameter of 2.78 mm and a hardness of 1600 HV, ensures durability and accuracy in challenging testing conditions. It is capable of measuring hardness up to 940 HV, making it suitable for a variety of materials. The moderate indentation size ensures that even in tight spaces, surface integrity is maintained while providing accurate results.
Adaptable to various testing conditions
The Leeb Probe Type D+15 can be used with samples of different weights and thicknesses:
- Minimum sample weight:
- Of compact shape: 5 kg (11 lbs).
- On solid support: 2 kg (4.5 lbs).
- Coupled on plate: 0.05 kg (0.2 lbs).
- Minimum sample thickness:
- Uncoupled: 25 mm (0.98 inch).
- Coupled: 3 mm (0.12 inch).
- Surface layer thickness: 0.8 mm (0.03 inch).
Moderate indentation for specialized testing
The probe produces moderate indentation sizes on test surfaces, making it suitable for specialized hardness testing in grooves or recessed surfaces:
Indentation size on test surface:
-
- With 300 HV, 30 HRC: 0.54 mm diameter, 24 μm depth.
- With 600 HV, 55 HRC: 0.45 mm diameter, 17 μm depth.
- With 800 HV, 63 HRC: 0.35 mm diameter, 10 μm depth.
