Application areas
The Leeb Probe Type G is ideal for testing solid components, including heavy castings and forgings. With a high impact energy of 90 Nmm and a substantial impact body, this probe is perfectly suited for applications requiring deep, accurate measurements in tough materials.
Versatile and robust
The probe’s tungsten carbide tip, with a diameter of 5 mm and a hardness of 1600 HV, ensures durability and high precision in challenging testing environments. It is designed to measure hardness up to 650 HB, making it suitable for very hard and dense materials. The larger indentation size provides clear and reliable measurements on solid components.
Adaptable to heavy-duty testing conditions
The Leeb Probe Type G can be used with samples of different weights and thicknesses, tailored to handle heavier and thicker materials:
- Minimum sample weight:
- Of compact shape: 15 kg (33 lbs).
- On solid support: 5 kg (11 lbs).
- Coupled on plate: 0.5 kg (1.1 lbs).
- Minimum sample thickness:
- Uncoupled: 70 mm (2.73 inches).
- Coupled: 10 mm (0.4 inches).
Significant indentation for solid components
The probe produces larger indentation sizes on test surfaces, making it suitable for hardness testing in solid components:
Indentation size on test surface:
-
- With 300 HV, 30 HRC: 1.03 mm diameter, 53 μm depth.
- With 600 HV, 55 HRC: 0.9 mm diameter, 41 μm depth.
