The UCI probes for NOVOTEST portable hardness testers is a versatile tool that ensures accuracy and reliability in hardness measurements.
The UCI (ultrasonic contact impedance) probe enables hardness measurement of small products, regardless of weight or wall thickness, and can assess surface-hardened layers as thin as 30-40 μm. It is much more more versatile than the dynamic method, and allows solving a wide range of hardness testing tasks.
The UCI probes for NOVOTEST portable hardness testers is a versatile tool that ensures accuracy and reliability in hardness measurements.
MEASURING THE HARDNESS OF THIN-WALLED AND SMALL PRODUCTS
UCI probe enables hardness measurement of products with a thickness starting from 1 mm and weighing as little as 100g, without the need for additional tools, fixtures, or accessories
MEASURING HARDNESS OF COMPLEX-SHAPED PRODUCTS
Unlike standard Leeb probes, the UCI probe requires only a few square millimeters of surface area to perform hardness measurements. This makes it ideal for measuring in hard-to-reach places, complex shapes, welds, heat-affected zones (HAZ), gear teeth, and more.
PROBE VERSATILITY
UCI probe comes with a special nozzle that ensures the indenter penetrates the surface of the tested object perpendicularly, minimizing the chances of operator error. Additionally, a special washer can be attached to the nozzle for working with surfaces of various diameters. The washer can be removed, allowing the thin tip of the probe to be inserted into grooves or narrow points of the product where hardness measurement is required.
DIFFERENT LOADS FOR DIFFERENT TASKS
98N (10kgf) |
Cast material, forgings, weld inspection, heat affected zones etc. Applies with soft materials.
|
50N (5kgf) |
Most versatile type used for testing machine parts, shafts, weld inspection, etc.
|
10N (1kgf) |
Thin-walled parts, hardened materials, coatings, bearings, tooth flanks, etc.
|
PRACTICALLY NON-DESTRUCTIVE METHOD
The indentation left by the UCI method is only a few microns and is almost undetectable to the naked eye, compared to the Leeb method, which leaves an indentation approximately 500 microns in diameter. This feature also allows for the measurement of hardened material layers (nitriding, carburizing, etc.).
